چکیده

The Symanzik action improvement program has been proposed [1,2] as a way to reduce scaling violations in the approach to the continuum limit from a lattice action. In another contribution, we report on our preliminary investigations into the nature of scaling violations inherent in improved actions. In another proceedings in this volume[4], we make detailed comparisons of Wilson and tadpole-improved Clover fermion actions on configurations with dynamical fermion content. In this work, we perform SU(3) quenched spectroscopy using a one-loop tadpoleimproved Symanzik pure gauge action and the tree-level tadpole-improved Clover fermion action. We measure the hadron spectrum and the string tension at lattice spacings 0.15, 0.18, 0.20, 0.25, and 0.43 fm. The goal of this work is to measure the lattice spacing dependence of the hadron spectrum. We find significant scaling violations in amK∗/ √ a2σ consistent with O(a2).

Comparing Wilson and Clover quenched SU(3) spectroscopy with an improved gauge action

We present results of quenched SU(3) hadron spectroscopy comparing O(a) improved Wilson (Clover) fermions with conventional Wilson fermions. The configurations were generated using an O(a) improved 6-link SU(3) pure gauge action at β’s corresponding to lattice spacings of 0.15, 0.18, 0.20, 0.33, and 0.43 fm. We find evidence that fermionic scaling violations are consistent with O(a) for Clover ...

Quenched Light Hadron Spectroscopy: Comparing the Wilson and O(a)-Improved Fermion Actions

We have studied the light hadron spectrum and decay constants for quenched QCD at β = 6.2 on a 24 × 48 lattice. We compare the results obtained using a nearest-neighbour O(a)-improved (“clover”) fermion action with those obtained using the standard Wilson fermion action on the same gauge configurations. For pseudoscalar meson masses in the range 330-800 MeV, we find no significant difference be...

Reducing Discretization Errors in Lattice Qcd Spectroscopy

The improved Wilson quark action – the clover action – is constructed to have smaller discretization errors than the normal Wilson quark action. We test this in a quenched spectroscopy computation on 6 lattice ensembles with spacings from 0.15 to 0.43 fm. To ensure that the dominant scaling violations come from the fermions we use an O(a) improved 6-link SU(3) pure gauge action. We find evidenc...

SCRI Results With the Tadpole-Improved Clover Action

I discuss a study performed by the SCRI lattice gauge theory group which compared light hadron spectroscopy using the Wilson and Clover fermionic actions. We showed that a Clover coefficient chosen using tadpole-improved tree-level perturbation theory effectively eliminates the O(a) discretization errors present in the Wilson action. We found that discretization errors in light spectroscopy for...

Quenched Hadron Spectroscopy with Improved Actions

The improvement of the lattice QCD action has become recently a main focus of research in lattice field theory. Improved actions for lattice QCD are designed to remove lattice-spacing artifacts in numerical estimates of physical observables. This allows to conduct the numerical calculations on much coarser and smaller lattices and thereby to substantially reduce the simulation costs. In this co...
